Meet Our New Executive Director

Sharon Thompson Radtke
Sharon Thompson Radtke of Milton is the new Executive Director of First Night Burlington, Burlington’s 25 year-old substance free New Year’s Eve festival of the arts.

Radtke developed and ran major arts events and programs, including the New Year’s event “Fest Eve,” over a 20 year period for both the City of East Lansing and Michigan State University before moving to Vermont last year with her husband, Don Radtke.

“Our only daughter graduated from UVM (University of Vermont) and fell in love and got married here. We also fell in love with Vermont and when we explored the idea of moving, we both found jobs right away.”

For the past year, Radtke has coordinated Executive Education seminars and recruited local business participation as the Administrative Coordinator for the UVM Vermont Business Center.

“I have enjoyed working with the business community at UVM but I missed the Arts. This is the job for me. I am impressed with the tenure of First Night Burlington and I will work hard with the Board of Directors and our community of artists and business people to provide the leadership to move forward. I am very proud and excited that the 2009 First Night will be the kickoff for Vermont’s Quadricentennial celebration.”
