- A Free First Night button allowing you access to all events before and after your volunteer shift.
- Flexible Shifts provide plenty of time for you to enjoy your favorites among our extraordinary line-up of artists.
- A free mini burrito from Boloco on the day of the event
They're all important, and we'll do our best to accommodate your first choice. The earlier you sign up, the better your chance of getting the assignment you want most!
Site Assistants - Rub elbows with artists and their fans while you help the Site Manager run a smooth show. Check buttons, guide crowds in and out of performances, and answer festival-goers' questions. We need more Site Assistants than any other volunteer. Comfortable with directing people and flexible about what you do? Be a Site Assistant!
Button Sellers - Help us sell First Night buttons and tickets! You can work at any of our downtown sales sites--Burlington Town Center (prior to First Night only), Memorial Auditorium, or right in our office. A limited number of Saturday and weekday shifts are available prior to the event. Smiles required, good with numbers or retail experience a plus.
Art Assistants - Enjoy working with children and families? Volunteer at Burlington City Arts Firehouse Gallery or at the Clay & Print Studio and help budding artists create their own masterpieces. If you love scissors and glue, this is the place for you.
Dancing Dragons Parade - Become a dragon with your friends, co-workers, or family for a truly transformative New Year's Eve experience. We welcome anyone who wants to help create a lively show as it travels down Church Street. Lots of parade assistants needed, too.
Setup & Strike Crew - Help us transform our sites between shows! Do the "heavy lifting" by rearranging chairs, installing signs and banners, even moving pianos! Or help us put the festival to bed as our celebration winds down. This is an ideal job for the young, the strong, and the spry.
Office Assistants - We have a variety of office tasks before and during First Night. Before First Night we have a limited number of tasks: sell buttons, answer phones, process orders, assemble signboards, decorate our window, and more. On First Night: sell buttons, answer countless phone calls or help with off-site errands as a runner. Volunteering in the office puts you right at the heart of First Night. The office is not open evenings or on weekends prior to First Night.
Pickup & Delivery - Have a car and want to be out delivering buttons & boxes, or running errands for us? This is a flexible but very limited job for those who want to help us out before or during the event.
- Help out at the UVM/Gutterson Parking lot (next to the Patrick Gym) where there is free parking for First Night attendees. Assist First Night revelers in locating and boarding the shuttles, then ride along answering questions and providing commentary as you go. If being a tour guide appeals, this is the job for you!
